The snow has melted, the team has thawed out, and we're full steam ahead with the next stage of our project. We're delighted to share that The New Art Gallery Walsall will host the exhibition in the Community Gallery from 6 March to 12 July 2026.
The past five days marked a significant milestone for the project, three days of intensive site preparation followed by two days of filming in challenging winter conditions, with Walsall College students on set throughout.
In November 2024, Billy visited Walsall College's creative department, marking the beginning of an exciting collaboration as part of our Paths You Walk project, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
It's been an exciting and busy few months as we prepare for our shoot days. Billy has been conducting vital community interviews with members of the Walsall community, many of the last of a generation who arrived in the 1960s.

In July 2024 I took the first steps on an inspiring journey to uncover the untold stories of the Caldmore Community, a vibrant and diverse neighbourhood in Walsall where students at the local primary school speak an astonishing 88 different languages.

The Exiles has opened at The New Art Gallery Walsall, running from 11 November 2022 to 6 February 2023, following its acclaimed run at the New Art Exchange, Nottingham.
